Veteran's Day Celebration
Charlton St. School proudly presents the annual Veteran's Day program in honor of all our veterans and servicemen and women. This annual program enhances the curriculum in several areas: reading, writing, social studies, and the arts. International Day of Peace
Charlton St. School students participated in Pinwheels for Peace as part of their school wide PEACEBUILDER PROGRAM on September 21. This is the second year that the students have participated in this event, The International Day of Peace.
The art teacher, Miss Podles, had her students create the pinwheels during their art classes. Please enjoy the slide show of students and their creations!
Hispanic Day Celebration at CSS Charlton Street School hosted their 7th annual Hispanic Day Celebration on October 14, 2011. Authentic Hispanic food was donated by the staff and parents. Everyone feasted, talked, and watched the student presentations. ELL families and staff enjoyed the festivities prepared by Mrs. Bilis’ 2nd and 3rd grade SEI ELL and 3rd grade ESL students. They proudly displayed their autobiographies of their Hispanic countries. Students danced and played musical instruments to Spanish songs on power points demonstrating their knowledge about their countries. Students also learned about cities in the United States whose origins are Hispanic. Students enjoyed identifying these cities and researching their origins. The celebration was a great learning activity for students and their families! Visit Mrs. Bilis' website for more pictures and information. |

This slide show is just a sampling of what each class contributed. Please view the World Cultural Festival page to view powerpoint presentations created by each second grade class and also a photo slide show of the fabulous presentation days! Charlton Street's Robin Family Mother Robin became a resident of Charlton St. School this spring. Her safe haven is in the school's courtyard. She created a beautiful nest which blossomed as time passed. She laid four eggs, kept them warm until hatching, and is now taking care of two of the birds while still waiting for the other two eggs to hatch. Read The Story of Robin Eggs to learn more about robins. |
